This week went by so fast!!! It’s so true what they say that the days can drag on some times, but the weeks just fly by! And it’s crazy to see that happening for me. Haha! Anyway, here are some brief highlights of our week and personal experiences I had. Monday evening after our Preparation Day went well as we visited with a recently baptized member who we are reading with the Book of Mormon with each time we go over and we bring a wonderful member with us and they are becoming fast friends! It’s always awesome when you introduce people that can become a strength and a support in learning more about Jesus Christ.
So Wednesday was pretty amazing because we also met with two members who have been recently baptized, and they both have a strong belief in Jesus Christ and it shows! They asked us great questions on what more can they do to progress, and so they have been recently attending the Temple Preparation class that happens periodically in each ward or branch. It’s great for them to be attending that class during Church because it’s helping them to understand that yes, being baptized is essential and opens the gate to the path back home to our Heavenly Father, but the Temple is where we can make more promises and receive blessings from keeping our promises.
Also Wednesday Evening we were involved in a Youth Group activity in helping them prepare for missionary service! Elder McConkie and I helped them practice knocking on doors and introducing the Gospel to someone who may not even know what it is! This reminded me of when I was learning how to be a good missionary and what a missionary even does! It was funny though trying to explain it because it’s sort of become second nature now, but explaining it can be different. Haha! But it was a great activity and we even learned some new recipes for a missionary budget.
Thursday evening we met with a recently baptized member and her mother in another members home. Needless to say it was a very interesting lesson as we were attempting to share with her about how God has restored The Gospel of Jesus Christ through Joseph Smith. With that knowledge of how the Priesthood Authority to act in God’s name and perform sacred ordinances such as baptism were also given to Joseph Smith. Also later that evening we met with another recently baptized family and shared the same lesson with them and even brought a visual for the kids!
Friday was awesome because I was on exchanges with our District Leader Elder Losee. We had a wonderful District Meeting and following that we met with another recently baptized family (seeing a trend here?) And we are sharing with them principle by principle of The Restoration, so we started with Joseph Smith and how he prayed and asked God to know which of all the Churches were true and his experience of God and Jesus Christ coming to visit him in the grove of trees. We left with them the Testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith pamphlet to read and they were super interested in it because the earlier missionaries had never explained in great detail the life of Joseph Smith. Later that afternoon we also met with a young woman who we talked about God’s great plan and purpose for us in knowing where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. It was awesome! Because were talking about how God has prepared a place for each of us in HIs kingdom, and she said it was so much better than what she has believed about Heaven and Hell being so cut and dry. That God gives us the opportunity here and after this life to accept Him and return to live with Him again.
That was a little bit longer than a couple highlights, but the highlights of missionary work are being able to visit with and teach people more about Jesus Christ and the happiness it brings to know more and apply more in our lives. So, yeah, you could say that this week was pretty awesome in that regard. Granted, every week has it’s trials, it’s emotional battles that have to be won, but in the end “I know in whom I have trusted. My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.” (See 2 Nephi 4:19-20)
