I spent the first six months of my mission in Springfield, and let me tell you that it was quite an interesting experience. I was trained by Elder Thompson who is an amazing trainer in showing me the first ropes of missionary work. Great missionary and I learned a lot from him about being faithful in serving and not giving up when it gets hard. We covered a small area in the Springfield 4th ward, but there were a few amazing members that really cared about the missionaries. There I spent three months with him getting to know the area and how to be an effective missionary. Shortly after 12 weeks together, my mission president, President Young at the time, asked if I would train a new missionary coming into the field. Still being a little wet behind the ears but willing to serve I accepted and was soon assigned to train Elder Joshua Godfrey. It was certainly a learning experience. Often times they say that the Trainee trains the Trainer. Overall my time in Springfield was enjoyable and there are some good people there.
